The Caribbean Internet Forum 2005 was held in Barbados from October 4 - 5.
Theme and Background
The main topics for this conference were:
- Policy and Regulatory Planning for future environment of abundant bandwidth
- Survivability and reliability of Internet connectivity under natural and other hazards in the Caribbean
- Assessment of ISP peering and backbone relationships for optimal (lease cost) traffic flow and management
- ISP customer recruitment model to expand customer base in the Caribbean
- ISP models for public sectors (schools, libraries) internet service under Universal Service Obligations
- Merging internet domain name and number administration in the IP world of the future
- Co-ordinating Regional Submarine Fibre projects in developing a rational and efficient telecommunications system within the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME)
- Providing incentives for STV providers to enter the ISP/Telephony/Broadband services market in small territories
